Two people who arrived in Australia overnight from southern Africa have tested positive for the new COVID-19 variant Omicron. Hong Kong has also reported two cases. 

Although the Chinese mainland has not reported any case so far, there are growing concerns over whether existing vaccines will work on Omicron, and China's Sinovac has said it will start developing a new vaccine as soon as possible.
