Demonstrators marched outside Downing Street in London demanding safe passage for asylum seekers to the UK, after 27 people drowned crossing the English Channel on Wednesday. The demonstrators accused the government of treating the refugee issue as a political game. So far this years, 25,000 people have made the dangerous journey across the Channel in small boats, triple the number from last year.
