Chinese FM meets counterparts from African countries ahead of FOCAC

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met senior diplomats of some African countries in Dakar ahead of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Wang and his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of the Congo reaffirmed the importance of bilateral relations and showed willingness to further cooperation. They also discussed the recent abduction of Chinese nationals in DR Congo, with both sides calling for strengthening regional security. Wang also met the minister of international cooperation of the Republic of the Congo. The two said they would continue to strengthen mutual support and strategic coordination. Wang talked with his counterparts from Algeria, Uganda, Angola and Mauritania. They thanked China for sending COVID-19 aid.
