Japan is closing its borders to all foreigners to guard against the Omicron COVID-19 variant. The new measure comes just weeks after a softening of strict entry rules. Although no Omicron infections have been found in the country as yet, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the government is responding to the variant "with a strong sense of urgency."
