South Korea on Wednesday reported 5,123 new coronavirus cases at all-time high in the previous 24 hours, including 723 in critical condition, far exceeding the government's "manageable level" of 500 critical cases.
Four suspected cases of the Omicron variant have been detected, health authorities disclosed on Tuesday, adding that genome sequencing tests have been conducted, with results expected late Wednesday.
