South African dance Pantsula carries on township history
03:50

We go to theaters to see operas and dances, but we often forget that these operas and dances come from the people and the streets. These art forms were once performed in the hutongs, the alleys and the courtyards. Today, one dance is still thriving in the streets where it was born to resist displacement in black townships of South Africa. CGTN's Julie Scheier takes us to the town of Gugulethu to learn about Pantsula, one of South Africa's emblematic dances born out of the country's apartheid era.
