New cases of the coronavirus variant Omicron were recorded across the United States. Five were detected in the New York City area, including two people who recently returned from South Africa. Hawaii also confirmed an infection case, bringing the case total to 10. All cases have been mild. It comes as the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden rolls-out its "winter plan" to battle COVID-19 pandemic.
