Former Chilean ambassador: Digital development must lead to democracy

The development of digital technology has opened new possibilities for social interaction and dialogue between authority and citizenry. Still, challenges remain to bridge the gap in access to digital services, said Fernando Reyes Matta, former ambassador of Chile to China and director of the Center for Latin American Studies on China at the University Andres Bello. In his speech at the International Forum on Democracy: The Shared Human Values on Sunday, Matta called attention to the impact of digital reality on democracy and governance in the 21st century.
