Stjepan Mesic, former president of Croatia, called for multilateralism in global governance. Underlining the UN's central role in global governance, he stressed that the organization is qualified to promote world peace and stability driven by the noble cause of human progress.

He made the remarks as a guest during the opening ceremony of the International Forum on Democracy: the Shared Human Values held on Saturday.
