Thailand has detected its first case of the Omicron variant in a mildly-symptomatic 35-year-old male U.S. citizen who entered the country from Spain late last month, Opas Karnkawinpong, Director-General of the Department of Disease Control, told a news conference on Monday.

"This first confirmed case had been living in Spain for a year," Karnkawinpong added.
