Can the U.S. democracy summit effect change?

The invitations are out for U.S. President Joe Biden's so-called Summit for Democracy. China's Taiwan region joins other invitees, including the UK and Japan, with the goal of "rallying like-minded countries, around efforts to fight corruption and advance human rights."

Why is the U.S. holding the Summit for Democracy? Is it in a position to do so? CGTN's Dong Xue spoke to Shen Yi, director of the Research Center for Global Cyberspace Governance at Fudan University.
