China has been establishing free trade zones (FTZs) as part of its efforts to open up to the outside world. As of September 2020, 21 FTZs had been set up in different parts of the country including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Many of these zones aim to develop digital trade. So, what exactly is digital trade, and how is it developing in China?
