China's Vice Minister of Commerce Yu Jianhua called for opening a new chapter on economic and trade with Nicaragua at a new starting point after China and Nicaragua resumed diplomatic ties on Friday.
Yu made the remarks while holding a virtual meeting with Nicaraguan government delegate Laureano Ortega Murillo, adviser to Nicaragua's president, on Friday afternoon.
China welcomed the Nicaraguan side to take part in global development initiative and increase investment and infrastructure cooperation under the guidance of the Belt and Road Initiative, Yu said at the meeting.
Yu said Nicaragua is welcome to join the International Import Expo held in Shanghai, among other forums in the year ahead, aiming to deepen trade link and bilateral cooperation, laying a solid foundation for bilateral ties.
Ortega said Nicaragua valued cooperation with China in multiple spheres, including infrastructure, agriculture, mining, clean energy and digital economy.
Nicaragua would provide favorable business environment for China and help Chinese enterprises to tap into Central America market.
