Xi sends congratulatory letter to Greater Bay Science Forum 2021

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Greater Bay Science Forum 2021 on Saturday.

China is willing to deepen scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation with scientists from all over the world and international organizations, said Xi in the letter.

He also called for strengthening research on major scientific issues, making breakthroughs in generic science and technology and deepening collaboration on key scientific projects to jointly promote the development of the world's scientific endeavors for the betterment of mankind.

Xi pointed out the world is undergoing changes unseen in a century and global technology innovation has intensified and become more active.

Another round of technological revolution and industrial reform has brought a profound impact on the global economic structure, he added.

The Chinese president called on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to focus on the strategic position of building an international science and technology innovation center, strive hard to build a global science and technology innovation highland and promote the development of new industries.

The forum opened on Saturday in south China's Guangzhou City, which is part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Themed "Exploring the future, sharing scientific achievement," it brought together Nobel Prize laureates, scientists, experts and business leaders worldwide to discuss frontier science and technologies in such areas as life sciences, sustainable development, nanosciences and industrial software.

The event, which will last till Monday, aims to promote the scientific and technological cooperation between the Greater Bay Area and the world.
