Beijing has accused the U.S. Justice Department's China Initiative of being a McCarthyist tool to counter China. The Justice Department launched the initiative in 2018. It's been accused of racial profiling by civil rights groups and U.S. congresswoman Judy Chu. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian addressed reports about the China Initiative.
