An explosion took place in Cap-Haitien, the second-largest city in Haiti, late on Monday. Unfortunately, the tragedy occurred at a time when the tiny island nation has been grappling with a fuel shortage. As the fuel tanker flipped while trying to avoid a motorcycle, the residents rushed to collect the fuel directly from the truck. But the tanker exploded, causing several fatalities.

CGTN's stringers in Haiti have sent footage of the aftermath, rescuers searching for survivors and patients gathered in temporary medical camp awaiting treatment.
