Chinese embassy in Washington condemns new U.S. investment and trade restrictions

China is blasting the U.S. for violating free trade rules after Washington unveiled new sanctions on Chinese companies and research institutes. The Chinese embassy called the curbs "unwarranted suppression," and said Beijing would take action to protect the interests of Chinese firms.

On Thursday, the U.S. Treasury put eight Chinese companies on an investment blacklist, including the country's top drone maker DJI, accusing the firms of taking part in human rights abuse in Xinjiang.
