After South Africa officially reported its first Omicron cases, the variant has rapidly become the dominant strain nationwide. Nearly three-quarters of genomes sequenced last month were of the new variant, according to South African health officials. CGTN Global Stringer visited local hospitals and vaccination sites to interview local residents, ICU specialists and volunteers to glean their perspectives on the current situation.
