The Taliban has made a fresh appeal for Afghanistan's seat at the United Nations, after the country's former ambassador left the post. In an exclusive interview, Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen talks to CGTN about the UN's credibility and Afghanistan's seat in the organization.

SUHAIL SHAHEEN Taliban Spokesperson "We have the support of the people of Afghanistan. These are the requirements for getting the seat of Afghanistan at the United Nations. That is why I tweeted yesterday neutrality should be observed in this majestic world body, because the credibility of this world body lies in its neutrality. So, they should observe and abide by their neutrality and prove that they are neutral and hand over the seat of Afghanistan to a representative [who] can deliver, [who] can implement the decision at the United Nations and can assist the United Nations in their delivering humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. The current person sitting on the seat of Afghanistan at the United Nations, he can't deliver that. He cannot represent the government [and] people of Afghanistan. Any decision taken at the United Nations [he] is not able to implement it. He only can express his views without [representing] anyone. The past administration which they call Republic, the Islamic Republic, they have no place in any part of Afghanistan. So who [do] they represent? And how can they implement decision[s] taken at the United Nations?"
