The Chinese mainland recorded 100 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with 71 linked to local transmissions and 29 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Thursday.

A total of 19 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 496 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 100,644, with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 12,548 (12,184 recoveries, 213 deaths)

Macao: 77 (77 recoveries)

Taiwan: 16,840 (13,742 recoveries, 850 deaths)
