Jishan County, a suburb of Yuncheng, Shanxi Province confirmed one case of COVID-19 on Thursday. Mass testing began soon after, with more than 100 medical staff in Yuncheng deployed to 44 villages in Jishan County to test 100,000 people for COVID-19.

The infection was found in a truck driver who returned from Xi'an on Monday and was confirmed as an asymptomatic case. Local health officials alerted 82 close contacts and 252 secondary contacts are now in quarantine. They have tested negative in the first round of testing.

Many private clinics, tourist attractions and entertainment venues have temporarily closed in Yuncheng.
