Hemu is the northernmost village in western China. When the winter snow comes, the villagers love nothing more than to ski at high speed down the slopes of the nearby mountains. The region claims to be the birthplace of skiing, and people here still use traditional fur-covered skis said to have been invented 10,000 years ago.
