In the United States, many have been stranded at Christmas amid mass flight cancellations. Nearly 1,000 flights were cancelled Saturday, the second straight day of mass disruptions. The virus has hit many pilots and crew members, preventing them from working. The country has reported more than 170,000 new cases, mostly driven by the Omicron variant.
