Northwest China's Shaanxi Province is still in the middle of an ongoing local COVID-19 outbreak. Officials warned that more cases, even a burst of cases, may emerge in the coming days.
Speaking at a press briefing on Monday afternoon, local health authorities said gene sequencing of 137 finished local samples showed high similarity to imported cases from a flight from Pakistan on December 4.
As of Sunday, Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province, has registered a total of 635 local infections since December 9.
One area in the city was listed as high-risk for COVID-19 and 150 areas are classified as medium-risk.
