A self-taught artist from northeast China's Jilin Province intricately carved a mermaid and animals, including crocodile and dolphin, on the surface of an icy river. Gao, 38-year-old sculptor, said that he had no experience in ice sculpture before and only started learning it last year since he thought it brought him a lot of fun.
