Omicron prompts 7 Indian states to impose night curfew

The total number of cases of the Omicron variant in India has risen to nearly 580. And over 6,500 new COVID-19 cases have been registered over the past 24 hours across the country. Parts of India have imposed new controls because of Omicron, with night curfews enforced in 7 states and a ban on New Year gatherings. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a third dose booster shot for health workers and people over 60. For more, we're joined by our correspondent Ravinder Bava in Ranchi.
