U.S. President Joe Biden conceded on Monday at a national governors meeting that steps taken earlier this year to ramp up COVID-19 testing capacity were insufficient in light of the current Omicron surge, according to CNN. He has since directed funding to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assist in deploying tests.
"Seeing how tough it was for some folks to get a test this weekend shows that we have more work to do," the president said on a call with state governors and his administration's COVID-19 response team.
