Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will pay an official visit to Russia in early 2022, Iranian government spokesman Ali Bahadori Jahromi said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference, he said the deputy head of the president's office for political affairs is making arrangements for the trip.
The visit was announced as indirect talks between Iran and the United States on salvaging the 2015 Iran nuclear deal resumed on Monday.
The seventh round of talks, the first under Raisi, ended 10 days ago after adding some new Iranian demands to a working text.
The upcoming presidential visit is expected to result in several major agreements and contracts and focus on talks about the revival of the nuclear deal as well as expansion of economic and trade ties between Tehran and Moscow, Tasnim News Agency reported.
