The document that recorded the interrogation of plaintiff Cao Lushan and defendant Li Shaojin in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) wasn't thrown away – even when it expired. In those days, every scrap of paper was used again to make all kinds of things: paper hats, paper shoes – even paper coffins! And that was how it came to be preserved in a tomb in bone-dry Astana.
