Birds good at diving fly to E China for winter
CGTN

Baer's Pochard (Aythya baeri) is classified as critically endangered because it is undergoing an extremely rapid population decline, with the global population likely less than 1,000, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species. It is thought that wetland destruction and over-harvesting of both birds and eggs are the key reasons for its decline.

Every winter, the birds, which are good at diving, fly from the north to live in the Donghu Lake wetland, Jiujiang City, east China's Jiangxi Province.

Feast your eyes on photos of the rare species taken on the last day of 2021.
