On New Year's Eve, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered his 2022 New Year Address through China Media Group and the internet. Xi called 2021 a year of exceptional significance. China has met its first centenary goal, to become a moderately prosperous society. It's now advancing towards the second centenary goal — a modern socialist country by 2049, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
