As the sun rose on 2022, Beijing welcomed the New Year with China's national flag fluttering high. Thousands of people traveled to the Beijing's Tian'anmen Square to witness the first flag-raising ceremony at the square for the new year. Some even waited in freezing temperatures overnight.
