Officials from Russia, Germany and France will meet in Moscow on January 6 to discuss the Ukraine situation, according to the TASS news agency citing a source.

Foreign Policy Adviser to the German Chancellor Jens Ploetner and Diplomatic Adviser to the French President Emmanuel Bonne will meet Russia's Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, Dmitry Kozak.

The visits will be made at the invitation from the Russian side, the source told TASS.

Earlier on Monday, German Government Spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit confirmed the trilateral meeting will be scheduled this week and said Germany continues placing emphasis on diplomatic efforts in settling the Ukrainian crisis. 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Joe Biden held a telephone conversation late Sunday.
