Qinghai Lake, located in northwest China's Qinghai Province, is China's largest inland saltwater lake. The lake is key to maintaining the ecological balance in western China and also a natural barrier for controlling the eastward spread of desertification. The Qinghai Lake is freezing up and shining in winter like a dazzling gem embedded on the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
