China aims to have over 270 civil airports by 2025, part of the nation's next five-year development plan for the aviation sector, an aviation regulator official told an online press conference on Friday.
Han Jun, director-general of the Department of Development Planning of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), said the 270 civil airports will ensure 17 million takeoffs and landings, with a total transport turnover volume of 175 billion ton-kilometers, and 930 million passengers as well as 9.5 million tons of cargo and posts.
As of the end of 2022, China had 241 civil airports. The nation's next five-year development plan for the aviation sector features green and low-carbon as well as high-end technologies, added Han.
