Almaty resident says current situation is 'far from normal'

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is urging the restoration of administrative and public facilities in parts of the country hit by days of unrest. CGTN's Global Watch is joined by Almaty resident Frederick Emrich, an assistant professor at KIMEP University, for the latest situation in the city. Emrich said that the situation in Almaty is far from normal, although the president has encouraged businesses to reopen. The internet is not stable and all social media platforms have been cut. The new semester, which is scheduled to start soon, has to be delayed, according to the ministry of education. And the main security troops on streets are Kazakhstan forces, with support provided by CSTO peacekeeping forces.
