An extraordinary online meeting of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is scheduled for Monday, the Armenian Government's press service said on Sunday.

The meeting will discuss the situation in Kazakhstan and measures to normalize it, the Kremlin later said while confirming President Vladimir Putin's attendance.

Armenia will chair the virtual meeting of the CSTO countries' leaders.

The CSTO has deployed peacekeeping forces to the Central Asian country to help normalize the situation following days of violent protests.

The Collective Security Council of the CSTO is the highest body of the organization, which consists of six member states - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
