Seeing cars cruising down city streets is normal, but a flock of ostriches is a rare sight. In Chongzuo City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, over 80 captive ostriches escaped their enclosure and raced down local roads, amazing citizens early Saturday morning.
The flightless birds belong to a local ostrich farm, and escaped after the gate to their pen was left unlocked. With police help, most of the ostriches have been safely returned. Nobody was injured during the incident.
Common ostriches mainly eat vegetables and weigh over 100 kg. The local farm has raised more than 300 ostriches.
