The Chinese mainland recorded 157 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with 97 linked to local transmissions and 60 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Monday.

A total of 42 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded, and 699 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 103,776, with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,636 since January last year.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 12,786 (12,284 recoveries, 213 deaths)

Macao: 79 (77 recoveries)

Taiwan: 17,362 (13,742 recoveries, 850 deaths)
