President Tokayev says country weathered attempted coup
Kazakhstan's president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, says his country had weathered an attempted coup d'etat. Speaking in an online meeting of the regional security alliance CSTO, Tokayev said the organization's peacekeeping mission of more than 2,000 troops, who were invited to help, will soon end. He said some 8,000 people have been detained so far and order has been restored. Tokayev said the hunt continues for terrorists.
