Chinese novelist Mai Jia: China's rise draws international readers to Chinese literature

Even as one of the most internationally-claimed contemporary Chinese novelists today, Mai Jia had waited 12 years for his debut novel "Decoded" to be discovered by Penguin and introduced to the world. That's how difficult it was for Chinese literature to get across to an international audience. But Mai Jia is optimistic that with the rise of China's international status, more and more international readers will become interested in Chinese literature.
