The English edition of "Aquatic Plants of China," a book recording 885 species of freshwater and marine higher plants in China, has been published.

China is one of the world's most diverse country in terms of aquatic plants, but the world knows little about it. The language is one of the obstacles that this book overcomes.

Compiled by the researchers at the Wuhan Botanical Garden under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the book records 240 genera of freshwater and marine higher plants in China, annotates and classifies the latest research results concerning some taxa, and records the distribution area and habitat characteristics of each species.

The book records 500 representative species and features 843 color pictures.

Through more than 10 years of efforts, the researchers have carried out extensive and in-depth field investigation, specimen collection and identification and sorting throughout the country. It is expected to enhance understanding about aquatic plant diversity at home and abroad.
