U.S. surgeons successfully transplant pig heart into human

In a medical first, doctors in the U.S. have transplanted a genetically modified pig heart into a human. On Monday, the hospital in Maryland confirmed that the patient was doing well three days after the highly experimental surgery. A tremendous shortage of human organ donations is driving scientists to figure out how to use animal organs instead.
