Syria became the latest country to join the Belt and Road Initiative when a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Damascus on Wednesday. Syrian representative Fadi Khalil said the admission reflects the long-lasting friendship and cooperation between his country and China, while China's Ambassador to Syria Feng Biao added that the initiative would contribute to economic reconstruction and social development in Syria.
