The new cases detected in three Chinese cities including Shanghai, Zhongshan City and Zhuhai City in south China's Guangdong Province in the past two days were confirmed as the Omicron variant of C0VID-19, an official from the National Health Commission told a press conference on Saturday. 

A total of 14 provinces in China have reported imported cases of the highly transmissible Omicron variant, an official said at the conference.
