Peru's Foreign Minister Oscar Maurtua has tested positive for COVID-19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Monday.
The Peruvian government imposes new restrictions from Monday to 43 provinces, including the capital Lima, to battle the spike of COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant.
The night curfew in cities and provinces at high alert level will run from midnight to 4 a.m. from Monday to Sunday.
The number of citizens infected with COVID-19 rose to 2,606,126 and the death toll reached 203,464 in Peru as of January 15 at 10:00 p.m. (local time), according to the Peruvian Ministry of Health.
