The Japanese government will provide more than $1 million to tsunami-hit Tonga, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihiko Isozaki said on Wednesday.
Two air force planes carrying humanitarian supplies are ready to depart Australia for Tonga on Thursday as soon as conditions allow, with the ash-covered airport runway expected to be cleared soon, local media reported on Thursday.
