Reports: Russia-led bloc completes pullout from Kazakhstan
01:28

Kazakhstan's state of emergency had ended following violent protests earlier this month.

The authorities insist order has been restored after weeks of deadly unrest but say counterterrorism operations are ongoing. Reports, citing officials, say a Russia-led military alliance, the CSTO, has completed its withdrawal from Kazakhstan.

The alliance was invited into the country by President Tokayev to help quell the growing unrest, which began over a rise in fuel prices. A total of 227 people died in the violence. For more insight, Frederick Emrich joins CGTN from Almaty. He is an assistant professor at KIMEP University.
