World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over and warned against the emergence of new variants.

The pandemic is "nowhere near over" and, with the incredible growth of Omicron, new variants are likely to emerge, Tedros said on a briefing with the journalists on Tuesday, adding more than 18 million cases were reported last week.
