Peruvians are racing to save animals caught up in a devastating oil spill caused by waves from the Tonga tsunami. Peru declared an environmental emergency on January 20 as clean-up teams struggled to contain the spill at the country's biggest refinery. According to UN estimates, about 84,000 people, over 80 percent of the population of Tonga, have been affected by the disaster.
